REAP

Sometimes it is difficult to know how to approach God’s Word. For some people it is an overwhelming wealth of information. For some it’s a Golden Corral approach of take what you want and leave the rest. I wanted to share with you a great way to approach your study of Scripture so as to REAP the most benefit and walk away forever changed. (This is a compilation of several organization’s resources.)

Inductive Bible Study Method-

R– Read the book. Read up on the history of the book. Read up on the context within redemptive history.

E– Examine the section.

What does it say?

What does it mean?

What does it matter?

A– Apply it to humanity.

What does this passage teach me about the greatness of God? (What does it teach me about the sinfulness of humanity?)

What would it look like to practically live this out?

Why does my heart resist?

What aspect of God’s redemptive work do we need to embrace in order to reflect and enjoy God’s glory?

P– Pray that into your life. Pray that into the lives of those you know. Pray for those you know who don’t know anything about reflecting and enjoying God’s glory!

Summary:

What fallen condition is focused on? (Philippians 1:1-11= “It’s all about me!”)

What is the Christ solution? (Philippians 1:1-11= “It’s all for His glory!”)
