Only 2 Days Left of Vacay…

Based on THIS post…I have a lot of reading to do!!

  1. The Bible–I’ve made great progress and have REALLY enjoyed “Read thru the Bible (in 3 years)” anyone want to join me in 2010?
  2. Respectable Sins by Jerry Bridges–no progress
  3. Instruments in the Redeemer’s Hand by Paul David Tripp–started it this week and am excited to read it with Bonnie, my mentor!
  4. The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian–need to find this book amidst our boxes…hopefully husband will be building bookshelves…maybe Christmas break??
  5. Why We’re Not Emergent: by two guys who should be by Kevin DeYoung and David F. Wells–haven’t even bought it, but people say it’s great.
  6. Living in the Cross-Centered Life by C.J. Mahaney–need to get it.
  7. Martha Stewart’s Cooking School by the jailbird herself–perused this at Barne’s and Noble on a date night…must revisit.
  8. The Relief of Imperfection by Joan C. Webb–totally forgot about this book, may take it off the list. Living and fine w/ imperfection…as I stare at the laundry pile sitting beside me
  9. The Pressure’s Off by Larry Crabb great read!
  10. Any other recommendations to complete my list??–What have you read this year that’s been profitable?

Heading for a run and then blocking off some time to read on the couch…while Joel cheers/yells on the Rebels. Hotty Toddy!

  1. Hey Kitty,

I’m reading “Instruments…” too. Deep, excellent. I keep using it for my dship and leadership meetings. A book to add…

In response to your comment: I would begin as a baby step to your natural journey with reading “What the Bible Says About Healthy Living” by Rex Russell, M.D. It’s a short read with lots of pictures, but it really opens your eyes to the science and reason behind the Biblical (which is the natural) model. That was the first step in our process. I find that when I am intellectually engaged and convinced by good evidence and research – I follow through..

Other than that – if you want to start off right away – read your labels. Start by limiting foods with anything “hydrogenated.” I was pregnant with Gracie when I started reading labels. I got morning sickness every time I saw that word LOL!

  2. Living the Cross-Centered Life is a MUST! IT is one of the best books I have ever read. I just finished it, and it won’t be long before I read it again! Start it tomorrow. I can promise you that you will cry!
