After a great summer, we are filled with that familiar nervous excitement that creeps up on us each and every August…because it is GO-TIME here in Oxford! The town is buzzing with activity and energy as Ole Miss welcomes it’s largest freshmen class in history. (Don’t even think about going near Walmart!)
Nationwide, college enrollments are declining, dropping some 500,000 students in 2012, according to U.S. Census figures released last week. The continued growth at Ole Miss, which has recorded increasing student numbers for 19 straight years, is a testament to the quality and diversity of the university’s academic offerings, Chancellor Dan Jones said.
We are reminded of Jesus’ words in John 4:35 “Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest?’ I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.”
Our prayer is that as we lead our team and take steps of faith that God will do more than we could ask or imagine. Please pray with us this week as we initiate with students who are eager to connect on campus.
