So much has been going on inside the four walls of our little home! Here’s what we shared with our ministry partners today. Lots more processing to follow in the near future…our hearts deeply ache but are confidently hopeful.
Would you believe that this is the THIRD time we have sat down to write to you!?! Each time we have finished our monthly newsletter…something significant has changed in our lives!
First, we wrote to share ministry stories and to ask for prayer for the finalization of our adoption. The next thing we knew, it was April 22nd and we were in court raising our right hands to officially become Hurdle, Party of 4!!! THANK YOU for the countless prayers you have offered that have brought us to this point. What an amazing season of celebration it has been. We praise God for all He has done to bring D and EG into our forever family. Recently, we’ve been told that it’s visibly noticeable how “peacefully settled” our family is now! What a gift.
Next, sensing God was leading us to a ministry transition in some way, but not knowing what that would mean, we typed up an article asking for prayer about our future direction.
The next thing we knew, leadership within Crusade called Joel and challenged him to consider taking the position as Campus Director at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). We have wrestled in prayer (and many tears) over this decision and are fully convinced this is exactly the next step God has for us. Personally, our 6 years at USC have been some of the most influential and precious years…life as newlyweds, walking in community through infertility and the trauma of Kitty’s bone tumor, fostering and then adopting D and EG and everything in between.
In ministry, we’ve seen revival happen in the hearts of hundreds of students. It was August of 2007 when we sat on the floor of a sorority house with 6 students at a co-ed Bible Study dreaming of a ministry that would reach the darkest corners of the campus. Looking back, 6 years later, more than 2,000 students have actively participated in Greek Impact, and similarly in our traditional CRU movement, Columbia College, Impact and Valor ministries. It’s been an unbelievable 6 years.
So, now we sit for the third time writing to you in the middle of grief and relief. Grief, because we are sad to leave a caring community of believers and a place of powerful influence here in Columbia. Relief as we know we’ll be walking on the path that God has set before us. We are excited about a fresh start for our family, living less than an hour from Joel’s family, and the privilege of giving leadership to a well-established ministry that will be a great match for our gifts and abilities.
We ask that you continue to join us in our ministry through your continued prayer support and financial support. We may be transitioning from the Gamecocks to the Rebels, but we will still be reaching college students for Christ with your help. Thank you for walking alongside our family as we head for the next great adventure!
