Smorgasbord of Life

Wow life flies by so quickly.

I blink and my spring break has long since come and gone. My BFF from Argentina stopped by for a visit. The in-loves came and went. Spontaneous times with friends were so fun. The RGM Board meeting in Houston, a missions conference in WV, our church women’s retreat  in NC that ministered greatly to my heart. Etc. Etc. And now another semester has come and gone!

Both ministry on campus and our personal lives have continued to show us the miraculously powerful hand of God and yet continue to keep us humble. So, without further adieu, here’s a pictorial version of the past few weeks…

I hosted some of our Greek Leaders for a brunch at my house a few weeks ago. My sweet girl, Florencia, was the guest of honor! Have I ever blogged about Florencia? I am not so sure… well, for a refresher… I met Flor at a Zumba class in Argentina, when I was a sophomore in college on summer project. She would talk our heads of 24/7 but then pretend she didn’t understand my English (though she is fluent) every time I would try and talk to her about God. I gave up on her after 4-5 weeks of this…but GOD did NOT.

She trusted Christ a month or two after we came back to the States and is now a full-time missionary with Campus Crusade to the athletic world in South America. She is nothing short of a modern-day Paul. Girlfriend has shared the Gospel (by God’s grace) with the entire Olympic softball, baseball and track team. She is insane. She has led hundreds of people to Christ and I am daily inspired by her fiercely loyal friendship. I love you, Flor!

Cookies after Crusade with my faves!

Side note-below is a terribly fuzzy picture, but this is my favorite face that Flor makes.

This is face that she makes when she is telling someone WHAT IS UP. When she gets passionate about Jesus you better just recognize the face…because she’s about to tell you some truth…and it usually starts with “Girl, listen…”

Changing gears, Mr. Murphy turned 50 and his sweet wife threw a wonderful soiree for him! I was the self assigned photographer :) I know I have mentioned previously, just how much we adore the Murphy family…but I’d like to re-state that they have made our time in Columbia SUCH a sweet experience. They have been our family away from family and have given us a home away from home.

JR is holding a screwdriver and talking to my husband..you never know.

Isn’t it lovely? I wish a picture didn’t just say 1,000 words…rather I wish it served you 1,000 calories of these desserts that were to die for! Mrs. Murphy is known for being the cutest lady in Columbia as well as the best dessert maker this side of the Mason Dixon. :)

The Murphy’s also help us love on these precious people…

Here are some Zeta girls who came to a recent social that we hosted for students…”Skate with a Date or Mingle if You’re Single”

You guessed it…Roller Skating!!

Never fear. A blast was had by the few and the proud who attended this event…

Watch out for this guy…

This is getting to be a very lengthy and very random post…but I am gonna just keep on.

A day or so after skating, I hopped on a plane bound for Texas. I have the PRIVILEGE to sit on the board for Redeemed Girls’ Ministry with my dear friend, Marian.

This girl helps me love Jesus, helps me go after the lost and helps me dress in a more “sorority-appropriate” way :) What a wonderful time of vision, prayer, laughter, food and fun.

Speaking of women I admire…

Do you see this woman? This is Mrs. Jeanne. Y’all. SHE CAN TEACH THE WORD! She was our speaker for Crossroad’s Women’s Retreat and she did not disappoint.

I learned so much from her last year and this year was just as great. She gives you nothing but the Word as she challenges you to “raise the bar, ladies.” I’ll eventually get to typing up and sharing my notes from the conference…

But, clearly we had fun!

And between TX and NC, Joel and I headed to WV for my home church’s Mission’s Conference! This was a fantastic time to learn more about God’s heart for the world, share with the congregation about our ministry and visit with supporters. RCCC is SO good to us!!

Our wonderful friend and partner in ministry, Jay, organized the week along with a great team and was such a gracious host. (He also is an amazing singer with a heart of God which is why he sang in our wedding!!)

Not only does RCCC work hard to reach WV, support missionaries to America like us, but they also are sending a team to Kenya this summer to work with an orphanage that my mom serves with called, “Into Abba’s Arms”. My mother never ceases to amaze me…you can hear more about her work with IAA here.

I am so proud of my mom and her impact around the globe. She is my hero!! (Not to mention an adorable one at that.)

Okay, reliving the busiest 2 weeks of the semester is wearing me out all over again, so I will end with a teaser for a future post…

BRB (be right back–college texting lingo :) with highlights from the Hurdle family visit!

Praying for them in the deep south as tornadoes blaze their trails! Praying Praying!

Thanks for reading! xoxo

We are about to be an empty-nesters…

All the little freshmen who we fell in love with about 4 years ago are now seniors!! And though God has done transformational miracles in their lives and though they are ready to go out in to the Harvest with the Gospel, we are SO sad to see them go.

More on their unique salvation stories and their future callings soon. Just a video for now!
