A Fun Little Overnighter

We got to spend a fun 48-hours in Charleston with Joel’s parents (my parent’s-in-love) and it was an aesthetically-pleasing-blast!

We drove to Charleston Saturday morning, grabbed breakfast with our friends, Brandon and Ansley and then picked Joel’s parents up from the airport.

Our first great find was the Saturday morning Farmer’s Market at the corner of Calhoun and Market. What a fun adventure. There were fantastic gourmet food vendors, handmade goods and fresh produce.

We dominated the Honey Crisp apple selection (have you HAD ONE BEFORE?? Oh my word…delish) as well as the fresh kettle corn!

It could not have been a more beautiful day, with more yummy food or better traveling partners.

Next stop, lunch at “Poe’s Tavern” on Sullivan’s Island… have ya been there? Again…delish.

Mrs. Anita and I walked through the Market while the boys dozed off and on through some football games. We re-grouped and had a late supper at “Hyman’s”.

The next morning, we had a quick breakfast at “Toast” and then off to East Cooper Baptist Church. (I was being lazy and didn’t want to go to church, but was SOOO blessed by the service. Especially the Sovereign Grace Worship Music.)

After church, some of our favorite “locals”, the Ware’s recommended we check out another awesome Charleston gem, the Pitt’s Street Bridge. It was so gorgeous and so refreshing.

We checked out of our hotel and went looking for some late lunch. We stumbled upon “Second Sunday on King Street”

Oh my word. It was SO fun! The stores and restaurants on King Street throw their doors open wide, put out tables and chairs and allow patrons to shop and eat out on the street. It felt like we were in Rome or something! It provided the best people watching you’ve ever seen.

(Terrible picture, I know, but you get the idea.)

We enjoyed a Buffalo Chicken Pizza from Mellow Mushroom and mourned our need to leave to head back to work.

We had SO much fun. So, if you ever find yourself in Charleston for 48-hours, I highly recommend our itinerary!

Now, if you’re there for a week, just ask Mrs. Anita, because she is now the Low Country expert. Thanks for such a fun time together, Hurdles! xoxo

We Thought We Needed Swimmies

We have had some of the strangest weather in Columbia!

Last week it was lovely in the 70’s then it went back the “famously hot” and this weekend we experienced major flash flooding.

Joel and I spent Sunday evening hunkered down in the center part of our house just in case a tree happened to come for a visit through our roof. It was really crazy, but thankfully our house (about 3 minutes from here) was kept safe and sound.
