Reaching the World for Christ

Our prayer is that we will reach the world for Christ…one college student at a time.

Praise God, we are seeing this prayer and dream become a reality every day we go to campus. We have had countless students be dramatically changed by the Gospel. Here is a peek at a recent changed life:

On Easter Sunday, I checked my cell phone after church and saw a text message from a “202” number. The text message said, “Hey Kitty, I’d love to meet sometime this week. God is doing something in my heart and I want to get my life right with God.”

I was obviously thrilled and immediately texted back and set up a time to meet. The one thing I failed to do was ask her WHO she was…I knew I was SUPPOSED to know who she was because she texted me…but I just couldn’t place a “202” number. Joel laughed at me and said only I would get myself in a funny little situation like that?!

I didn’t care I was just excited to meet “202” whomever that precious thing would be!!

A day later a very sweet Kappa Delta girl wrote on my Facebook wall that she was excited to see me soon. I quickly realized “AHA! That’s ‘202’!” What was so crazy about this was that she was the VERY FIRST sorority girl that I had ever met at Carolina. I remembered that when we met, her heart was not yet tender toward the Lord and she was content “doing her own thing”. I would see her on campus from time to time and we would always exchange “hello’s”. It seemed like this appointment three years later would be quite different!

We met at Starbucks on campus and immediately she shared with me all the wild and amazing things God was doing in her life. It was OBVIOUS that God was pursuing her and she was responding! The most amazing thing she said to me was, “I know that if I were to die tomorrow I would go to hell for all the sin in my life. I really need forgiveness and cleansing.” She then launched into her plan to start going to religious services and performing the duties required of her.

We dove right into Ephesians 2 and discussed the missing link between a holy God and very unholy people… Christ’s atoning sacrifice!

Then we looked at Hebrews and talked about Christ being our great high priest. For the first time, she saw Him as the perfect Savior. THE ONE who is able to take away the sins of the world!

After a great conversation and coming to a point of decision, we headed over to pick out a Bible for her. It was such a joy to be able to give the words of life to this wonderful new sister in Christ.

Since then, she has shared her new faith in Christ with her mom, dad and sister! Please pray protection and growth for this sweet new believer! I’m planning on meeting with her again this week!

God is at work…even when we are not!

Here are some lessons learned from being stuck inside my house, sick as a dog…

Just keeping it real for all you blogstalkers out there!

Lesson #1-Daytime television is for the birds. No, birds are lovely. Daytime television is for snakes, spiders and rats.

Lesson #2-Joel, the engineer turned missionary would have been a really good nurse.

Lesson #3-Your house looking like this every now and then isn’t the end of the world.

Lesson #4-Did I mention that daytime television is completely unrealistic and you are too sick to watch TV if you are lured into think about purchasing Cindy Crawford’s newest beauty line. PUT DOWN THE REMOTE AND GET INTO BED! I agree with my friends Seleta and Darby!

Lesson #5-Joel eating this for dinner a few nights out of the year month isn’t the end of the world.

Lesson #6-Even if you think you are better you probably need one more day of rest otherwise you end up home from work for another 3 days.

Lesson #7-You have precious friends when you open the front door and find this…**Thank you, Elizabeth!!**

Lesson #8-Your worth, as a person, is not based on your performance or lack thereof. Not in ministry, not in your spiritual life, not in your marriage or lack of efforts with family and friends. Thank you, “Search for Significance” + being sick from work and life for toooo long.

Lesson #9-You are not irreplaceable. God is sovereign and doesn’t need your help, yet graciously chooses to use you.

Lesson #10-God is NEVER NOT at work! I was sick as a dog, yet praising God for how He used one of my Junior Bible study girls!

(message from her)–“I thought I would share a little story to encourage y’all to praise God for the cool things He is doing on our campus! I met with a sweet freshman girl named, Amber, last Wednesday. She’s from Iowa and grew up knowing basically nothing about Jesus. She’s really close with the girls in my Bible study (she lives on their hall).

I asked her about her spiritual background and she explained her story saying she knew very basic things, but really knowing nothing at all. She was cute with asking me questions about if she should take notes at Crusade meetings because she sees everyone else doing it, but she didn’t know what to write down from the talks. She said she had a desire to know God, but she hadn’t accepted Christ as her Savior. So, that presented the perfect opportunity for me to challenge her with the “Would you like to know God personally” booklet. At the end of the booklet she decided to receive Christ right then and there!

It was amazing, y’all. She’s so excited about her new faith and learning more about what it means to be a Christian. We met for follow-up and she totally understands the decision she has made.

God is clearly at work on our campus, y’all. Keep trusting in Him and He will present opportunities for you to share His Gospel!”

AMAZING!! Such a wonderful lesson learned for me, her AND Amber!!! At least valuable lessons can be learned from something as yucky as being sick!
