I just got home from meeting with that sweet freshman Zeta girl that I mentioned last week and again I am amazed by God’s work in her life.
We talked again about the essence of the Gospel and what it could mean for her both here on earth and in etertnity. She had so many questions and was so open to talk with me and our intern, Kaitlyn. We talked through the significance of Romans 3:21-26 and she seemed to grasp the concepts. She looked at my Bible and said, “What’s the Bible about? Why are some of the letters red? Who is Matthew? What happened before Jesus lived?” We talked about it being God’s love letter to the world and about His “big picture” and His plan to redeem all the world and how that looked before Jesus came, but now what it looks like for us to trust in Christ. She soaked it all in like a sponge.
It was cute, she said, “the only thing I know about the Bible is what I’ve seen on the movies. But I am going to church on Sunday, for the first time since I can remember.” I told her I would bring her a Bible that she could have and she got very excited.
Before she left to take her Chemistry exam, I very seriously challenged her with the truth that she now knows everything she will need to know to BEGIN a relationship with God through Jesus and that she has the rest of her life to continue learning about Him. She said she would continue to process all that we talked about. We will meet again next week and I think I will ask her, “What is holding you back from inviting Christ into your life?” Keep praying for her!
